ABOUT
ME
Hi there! My name is Kimberly Yong Li Ping. I was born on January 15, 2004. I come from Selangor, Malaysia. I graduated from Taylor's International School Kuala Lumpur in 2019.
As of 2020, I am now a student undertaking the Advanced March intake of Foundation in Natural and Built Environments in Pre-University of Taylor's College.
In this website, not only will my portfolio be displayed, but my progress and development involving the modules from my semesters as well!

This platform will allow me to record my growth in architecture, which will also assist me in pursuing my career as an architect. I hope that my accomplishments will be more than satisfactory!
Here I am, at a construction site located in Putrajaya.

After graduating from secondary school, I took up an internship at RSP Architects for about a month before attending the Start It Right programme at Taylor's College. The experience was more than just sitting in the office and clicking away on the keyboard. The senior architect would actually bring me around to meetings where I practised taking minutes, visited construction sites of residential areas, and going on city walks!
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Since the age of 9, I have always wanted to become an architect. What channelled my fondness for architecture was when my former school conducted extra-curricular classes for an introduction into architecture in 2015. I learnt how to read plans, draw in scale, build models, design buildings and parks and so much more. I also had the opportunity to visit various Malaysian architect firms for class trips.
After attending the classes for 3 years, I still kept in touch with the club conductor, who was a former architect. She has always guided and supported me on my journey as a student even up to this day. Having told about the challenges when it comes to being an architect, I was and still am determined to face the path ahead.
Not only did I learn so much from spending time with her, in fact, spending time with the employees from different departments(graphic designers, drafters, landscape architects, the technical team) extended my knowledge in what it's like to work in an architect firm.

There were also times where I would be on my own, reading and reading, from books to huge printed plans. I also learned how to use a few softwares like AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino and a bit of Grasshopper too.

I'd say that the overall experience was very insightful and ended just in time for the Foundation in Natural and Built Environments course to begin!
