ASSIGNMENT 1:
Introduction to
Technical Drawings
For this assignment, we were to construct orthographic drawings on a 1:1 scale from plan view, to elevations, and a section of a specified object of our preference. The goal for this assignment is to refine our observation skills of the object’s shape, form, detail and technical scale from the eye to paper.
Week 1: Finding A Candidate
For the first week, we were given time to scavenge around the house to find an object that met these requirements:

Shall be smaller than A4 paper size. Suggested size to be around 15cm´15cm´15cm.

Only symmetrical in ONE direction.

Should be of reasonable challenging level such that there are sufficient details to be captured.

We then uploaded our selection of objects to our taste onto Google Sheets to submit for approval. It took me some time to figure out what object I could use to draw as I wanted to ambitiously execute this assignment in a challenging manner.
Week 2 & 3: Drawing It Out
After receiving approval of the mini fan, I began measuring its dimensions. From its curvature to its inner fan blades, I disassembled its parts to fully view its interior. It took awhile before I could start drawing it as the details were rather precise.
I then drafted the object multiple times onto butter paper to ensure that all its dimensions tally with one another. After doing so, I began to properly draw the object within the title block of which I had drawn beforehand.
Week 3 & 4: Time For Inking

From the feedback I gained from Ms Ann during tutorials, I was assured that my drawings were deemed understandable and appropriate. I then proceeded with inking it out.
REFLECTION
By doing this assignment, I was able to think critically can creatively by identifying and analysing problems.
My intellectual engagement was truly insightful. I was able to locate, extract, synthesise and utilise the information I obtained from various resources via the internet.
I was given the ability to reflect on my actions by managing my time efficiently as well as refining self-reliance.
This assignment has taught me how to transfer what meets the eye to paper in a careful manner. It was very interesting as it was drawn in the same scale. I felt a great sense of accomplishment in my work which made me appreciate the importance of this module as a start.
