PROJECT 1:
Point X Line,
Plane X Void
For this assignment, we were to research and collect interior architecture data that represented the spatial study of points and lines. Proceeding with model exploration of translating elemental forms whilst applying the design principles of planes and voids.
Week 2(I): Brainstorming
For the first week, we chose an inspirational piece of interior architecture to extract points from. These points had to be utilised in order to create our own design of points, lines, planes and voids.

I decided to integrate significant natural and man-made elements in my life. Before doing so, I researched on concepts, animals and interesting utensils.
I wanted to create a structure that contained symbolism in its form more than just for the sake of its appearance.

Week 3(II): Needles & Dowels
Week 4(III): A Crustacean Constellation Compilation
PROGRESS
Butter paper was used in an astrological way to connect the points of my finalised structure. By mapping out its shape, I was able to identify the exact points to replicate the final model. Layer by layer, points were eliminated to achieve its aesthetic outcome.

Making the model was a swift and fun process (except for the hot glue burns). I then photographed it and compiled the media into a presentation for digital submission.
After gathering enough research and formulating ideas, I began putting these structures to the test.

Starting off with a needle model and some string, I experimented by intersecting the string from needle to needle at varying heights. This process was rather tedious as the needles were sharp and looping the string required precision.

The next model was magnified, hence the use of wooden dowels. This allowed me to further explore its 3D shape and structure to my desire.

After receiving its approval, I continued with selecting the materials. Each and every material used holds meaning to the structure as its gives a personal touch.
REFLECTION
My intellectual engagement was truly insightful. I was able to locate, extract, synthesise and utilise the information I obtained from various resources via the internet.
I was given the ability to reflect on my actions by managing my time efficiently as well as refining self-reliance.
I learnt how to compile this project in a step-by-step manner for optimal readability, clarity and aesthetic appeal.
This assignment has taught me how to understand the importance of points, lines, planes and voids in spatial design. It was a fruitful project to start off this module with.
